When we are children we slip easily between the worlds of imagination and reality. Our imaginations allow us to access alternative realities where – when no one is watching – stuffed toys talk … trees assume monstrous qualities … buildings swallow people whole … inanimate objects dance …

As we become adults our perceptions dull, and glimpses into ‘other realities’ become increasingly rare. However, if we are open to such possibilities, we might just catch sight of something in our peripheral vision – something that makes us think ‘What if …’

Michael is an artist and designer working across a diverse range of media, including installation, sculpture, sound, photography and painting. He seeks to reveal what is often hidden in plain sight, as reflected in his MFA thesis – Hidden Cartographies – which explores the idea of linking public art to the rhythms of social space. Michael lives and works on the land of the land of the Gayemagal people of the Eora Nation.
